Download the DMG, drag Aurio to Applications, and launch it. On first run Aurio guides you through installing its audio component (a virtual microphone) and granting microphone access. Then pick Aurio Microphone as the input in the app you want to sound clean in.
Any macOS app that lets you choose a microphone. Aurio appears as a virtual input device called Aurio Microphone — select it in Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Slack, FaceTime, Discord, OBS, QuickTime, or your recorder of choice, and that app hears the denoised signal. You only have to pick it once per app.
Yes. Aurio cleans whatever microphone you already use — your Mac’s built-in mic, a USB or XLR interface, or a Bluetooth headset. You choose the source microphone inside Aurio, and it presents the cleaned result on the Aurio Microphone device.
Aurio runs on Apple silicon Macs (M-series) on macOS 13.3 or later. The real-time denoising model is tuned for Apple silicon, so Intel Macs are not supported. You can check your chip in → About This Mac.
Aurio captures your real microphone, removes background noise on your Mac, and presents the cleaned audio on the virtual Aurio Microphone device. It needs microphone permission to read your real mic. The audio is processed on-device and is never uploaded.
Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and turn on the switch for Aurio. If Aurio isn’t listed, launch it and toggle denoising once so it requests access, then check again. You may need to quit and reopen the app you use the microphone in so it re-reads the permission.
Aurio processes audio in real time on Apple silicon, so the added latency is low enough for live calls. It runs a lightweight neural model continuously while denoising is on, which uses some CPU; when you turn denoising off it passes audio through untouched with negligible overhead. On a laptop you’ll see a modest battery impact during long calls, comparable to other real-time audio tools.
Denoising runs entirely on your Mac and works offline — your microphone audio is never uploaded or sent to a server as part of normal use. Aurio only reaches the network to check for app updates and to validate your license or trial.
Denoising itself never waits on that check. With a paid license, it keeps working whether or not Aurio can reach the network — so a flaky connection, a flight, or an outage on our side can’t take your microphone away. See the privacy page for details.
Crash reporting is optional and off by default — it only turns on if you agree during onboarding. You can change your choice at any time in Aurio’s settings. Crash reports are designed to never include your captured audio. See the privacy page for the exact fields collected.

After that, the app is yours to keep on either licence: denoising keeps working for good. The two licences differ only in updates:
Security fixes are always included, even if you have stopped renewing. Aurio installs an audio component deep in macOS, and withholding a security fix from someone who paid for the app is not something we’re willing to do.
The 14-day trial is the one thing that stops denoising when it runs out: Aurio keeps running, but your microphone passes through unchanged until you activate a license. You can buy or manage a license from inside the app.
This is about the yearly licence. A lifetime licence has nothing to cancel and never stops updates.
You keep Aurio, and it keeps denoising. Cancelling ends the updates entitlement, not the app — every version released while you were subscribed stays yours and stays installable, and denoising carries on working indefinitely on the version you have.
What stops is new versions. Once your paid period ends, Aurio will tell you that a newer release needs a renewed license rather than installing it. Security fixes are the exception and always install, subscribed or not.
Renewing lifts the limit again, and it never takes back a version you were already entitled to. You can cancel from the receipt email or the customer portal at any time; there is no cancellation fee and no need to contact us.
If Aurio isn’t right for you, email us within 14 days of purchase and we’ll refund your license. The free 14-day trial lets you confirm it works for your setup before you pay.
A refund of your original purchase ends the license: Aurio keeps running, but denoising stops and your microphone passes through unchanged, the same as when a trial runs out. That is the point of the refund — you are not left holding a paid-for app you were reimbursed for.
Refunding or cancelling a renewal is different, and much gentler: it only stops future updates. The app and every version released while you were subscribed stay yours, and denoising keeps working. See what happens if I cancel.
Open Aurio’s settings and use Uninstall, which removes the audio component and the virtual microphone cleanly, then quit and drag Aurio from Applications to the Trash. If any app still has “Aurio Microphone” selected, switch it back to your real microphone.
First make sure Aurio is running (look for its menu-bar icon) and that first-run setup finished installing the audio component. Then fully quit and reopen the app you’re selecting the mic in — many apps only scan for input devices at launch. If it’s still missing, use Repair in Aurio’s settings to reinstall the audio component, or restart your Mac.

A macOS update can unload third-party audio components. Open Aurio’s settings and use Repair to reinstall its audio component, then restart your Mac if prompted. After that, re-select Aurio Microphone in your call or recording app.
