Terms of Service

Last updated: 29 August 2026

These terms cover downloading, trialling and buying Aurio. We have tried to write them in plain language. Where a term matters to what you actually get, it is spelled out rather than buried.

1. Who you are agreeing with

Aurio is published by Siphesihle Mavuso, trading as Aurio (“Aurio”, “we”, “us”). By downloading, installing or using the Aurio application (the “App”), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not install the App.

If you are installing Aurio on a Mac provided by your employer, you confirm you are allowed to install software on it.

2. The licence we grant you

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the App on Macs you own or control, for personal or business use. You do not buy the software itself; you buy the right to use it.

A single licence key may be activated on up to 3 Macs at a time. If you reach that limit the App will tell you so. Deactivating a Mac you no longer use frees a slot; email support@aurio.dev if you need help.

Licence keys are for you. Do not share, resell, sublicense or publish them.

3. What Aurio needs to run

The App requires macOS 13.3 or later on an Apple silicon Mac. Intel Macs are not supported. We do not promise the App will run on prerelease versions of macOS, and a future macOS release may require an Aurio update to keep working.

4. What Aurio installs on your Mac

Aurio is not a single sandboxed app. To present a virtual microphone to every other application, it installs system-level audio components, including a CoreAudio driver, a background service, and a privileged helper used for installation and removal. macOS will ask for your administrator password when this is set up.

You can remove all of it at any time from Settings → Uninstall in the App, which takes the audio component and the virtual microphone out cleanly.

5. The free trial

Aurio is free to try for 14 days with full denoising. No credit card and no account are required, and we do not ask for your email address. The trial is tied to your Mac and is issued once per machine. Attempting to reset or re-issue trials on the same Mac is a breach of these terms.

When the trial ends the App keeps running, but your microphone passes through unprocessed until you activate a licence.

6. Price, billing and renewal

Aurio costs $40 USD per year. It is billed as a subscription that renews automatically at the then-current price until you cancel. We will tell you before any price change affects a renewal.

Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record for your purchase. That means Lemon Squeezy is the seller on your receipt and is responsible for collecting any sales tax or VAT that applies where you are. We never see or store your card details. Lemon Squeezy's own terms apply to the payment transaction.

You can cancel at any time from your receipt email or the customer portal. There is no cancellation fee and you do not need to contact us.

7. What your money buys

This is the term most likely to differ from what you expect from a yearly charge, so it is stated precisely:

8. Security fixes are always included

Security fixes install whether or not you have an active subscription. Aurio installs an audio component deep in macOS, and withholding a security fix from someone who paid for the App is not something we are willing to do. This is a commitment we are making to you in these terms, not a courtesy we can withdraw at will.

9. Refunds

Email support@aurio.dev within 14 days of purchase and we will refund your licence. The free trial is there so you can confirm Aurio works on your setup before paying.

Two different things can be refunded, and they have different effects:

Where local consumer law gives you a stronger refund right, that law applies and these terms do not reduce it.

10. What you may not do

11. Updates

The App checks for updates and can install them for you. Updates may add, change or remove features. We aim not to remove things people rely on, but we cannot promise that any particular feature lasts forever. You can stay on a version you are entitled to, subject to section 8.

12. Licence checks and availability

The App reaches our servers only to check for updates and to validate a licence or trial. Denoising does not wait on that check. With a paid licence it keeps working whether or not the network is reachable, so a flaky connection, a flight, or an outage on our side does not take your microphone away.

We do not promise any particular uptime for the trial and licence endpoints, and we may change or retire server-side endpoints as the product evolves. We will not do so in a way that stops a paid licence from denoising.

13. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy forms part of these terms. In short: your microphone audio is processed on your Mac and is never uploaded by us as part of normal use, and crash reporting is off until you opt in.

14. Ownership

We keep all rights in the App, its name, and its branding. These terms give you a licence to use Aurio, not any ownership of it. The App includes third-party components under their own licences; those licences continue to apply to those components.

15. Disclaimer

Aurio is provided “as is”. Noise suppression is inherently imperfect: how well it works depends on your microphone, your room, the noise itself and the app receiving the audio. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that it will remove any particular noise from any particular recording. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Nothing here excludes a warranty or right that cannot lawfully be excluded where you live.

16. Not for safety-critical use

Do not rely on Aurio where a dropout or a processing failure could cause injury, loss of life, or serious harm. It is a convenience tool for calls and recordings, not equipment for emergency, medical, aviation, broadcast-critical or life-safety communication.

17. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost business, lost recordings, or missed or degraded calls arising from your use of the App. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to Aurio is limited to the amount you actually paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

This section does not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

18. Suspension and termination

You can stop using Aurio at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate a licence if it is used in breach of section 10, in particular circumventing licensing or sharing keys. If we terminate a licence for breach, no refund is due. If we terminate it for any other reason, we will refund the unused portion of your current subscription period.

19. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product changes. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, note them in the changelog. Changes are not retroactive: the terms you agreed to at purchase govern that purchase, and a material change takes effect for you at your next renewal.

20. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. If you are a consumer, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live, and nothing here stops you bringing a claim in your local courts where the law gives you that right.

21. Contact

Questions about these terms, a licence, or a refund go to support@aurio.dev. For anything about the App itself, the support page is the faster route.
